On the weekend of the 10th and 11th February 2014, Music of Joy traveled to Canberra for performing at the well-known Canberra Multicultural Festival 2014. On Saturday they performed at the Belconnen Shopping Mall as a precursor to the festival performance, serenading the shoppers with a selection of songs from around the world. Little children out shopping with their parents beamed with shining faces and danced to the music, entranced to see a big joyful music band in the middle of the shopping centre.
On Sunday, Music of Joy performed outdoors on the stage. The venue was the annual Canberra Multicultural Festival where people from many different parts of the world presented a great variety of exotic food stalls, colourful national costumes and exciting music and dance.
It was a very hot sunny day and the audience found some shade nearby. The stage manager and some of the audience were not put off by the hot conditions at all and danced enthusiastically at the front of the stage.
After the performance on stage the band found a grassy spot under some beautiful green shady trees and proceeded to entertain the passing crowd. The walking path next to the band was like a peaceful river, with people gently being carried along by the current.
On the way back to Sydney, the same emotion echoed from everyone, it had been an absolutely wonderful weekend and we keenly look forward to our next performance!!
PS – Three new songs were sketched by some of our singers over the weekend, but you’ll just have to attend one of the performances to hear them 🙂 see you there!!
